So, as I'm trying to become more and more comfortable drawing different things, I want to experiment with new characters and backgrounds. That being said, I have terrible imagination right now so I definitely need some help. :stare:

If you wouldn't mind, just drop a link of one of your character(s) down below. Please make sure that it is a clean reference, I will not go hunting down for one.  I also will not guarantee that your character will get drawn - really it's just going to boil down to who I choose. I might only choose 1, or I might choose 10, it literally depends on how I feel lol

So yeah, any character goes, and feel free to link me with however many you want to. From animals, to humans, to robots, reptiles, closed species, hybrids, fan characters, original characters, whatever! I'm just looking for a diverse cast of characters to draw so I can gain some artistic experience and level up!

Thanks in advance! Pikamote

Yeah, I know some of you were expecting this post to be here earlier (don't worry, so was I), but it's funny how sometimes life doesn't work out like that. Technically, I'm still on time though, since it's still summertime.

Anyway, to be completely honest, I don't even know where to start with this or even how to go about it. My ideas about everything are quite jumbled at the moment, I honestly wish that I could have questions to just answer instead of me trying to explain-

Actually...

that gives me a really good idea...

Lol, I can't believe this is what I'm actually going with. Like, I literally just got this idea while starting to write this. Hopefully this will thoroughly explain things while also keeping ya'll mildly entertained.

Pfft, what am I doing...

This will be embarrasing

but I'm low-key excited to do this haha

Coming to you LIVE from the Creative Imaginative Studios, it's

Announcer: Today, we have a very special guest joining us! Everyone, please give a big round of applause and welcome the face behind AwsmYoshi, Summer! [applause and whistling ensue] Or I've heard some people call you Jei, do you have a preference?

Summer: Thanks for having me, everyone. And either name is fine.

Announcer: Alrighty Summer, so how have you been? Or should I say where have you been? I thought we'd miss you since summertime's almost over! ba dum tsss :drummer:

Summer: laughs I always love a good pun, although I'd have to admit that I've heard that one too many times to count.

Announcer: Oh, well what can I say? Great minds think alike, am I right folks?

crowd cheers in agreement

Summer: Somethin' like that, I suppose.

Announcer: laughs Well in other news, tell us the news about you!

Summer: Well to answer your earlier question, I'm doing aright. Some days I have my ups and downs and deep downs, but I guess not everything can be sunshine and rainbows.

Announcer: I see, I see. Well, you just graduated high school, no?

Summer: Yeah.

Announcer: So, what are you doing now that you're out in the big adult world?

Summer: Unfortunately, nothing too exciting at the moment. I work full time as a manager at my job and since I don't really know what I want to do later on in life, I'm just going to a community college for 2 years, to get a feel for what I really want before I transfer to a larger university.

Announcer: Wait, I thought that you've once said previously that you wanted to be an animator, but now you're unsure of what you want to do? What caused the ambiguity?

Summer: Well, I also enjoy creating music and writing alongside animating or drawing so with all of these things, I don't know what I want to be my career and what I want to be my hobby.

Announcer: Speaking of hobby, there's all one thing that us here at CIS really want to know. Isn't that right ladies and gentlemen?

audience cheering and clapping

Summer: What's that?

Announcer: Oh, don't play coy Summer! This is no time for fishing around! ba dum tsss :drummer:

Silence

Summer: ...?

Announcer: Coy? You know, like the fish? Koi fish? Don't play koi?

groaning

Summer: Bruh...I know I make a lot of puns, but that one right there..

Announcer: visibly nervous Aaaand it looks like it's time for a commercial break! DeviantART LIVE will be right back after these messages! Don't you go anywhere because there's more to come, next! Please don't leave.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

(Is anyone still reading this madness?)

(Like...I've been putting this together for the past 3 1/2 hours, and haven't really even gotten to the major parts I need to explain. Gotta hurry up and get to the point, I suppose haha)

cheering, jive music plays

Announcer: Welcome back to more deviantART LIVE! We had to take an...impromptu commercial break. With us live in the Studio, we have Summer joining us today! Before we left for the break, we asked Summer a very important question!

Summer: Uhh...well you never actually got around to asking me the question but what is-

Announcer: I'm glad you asked, my dear!

Summer: ...

Announcer: All of us here at deviantART LIVE want to know one of many things....It was reported that your account, AwsmYoshi has been essentially wiped out of any information or drawings for the past 8 months, leaving many to believe that you unofficially deactivated it! May you please explain why?

Summer: laughs slightly Let me give you the quick run down of what happened: So one day, my friends and I were talking about... something, I honestly don't really remember what. Anyway, somehow, the subject of me talking about how I was a borderline weeaboo when I was a freshman came up and-

Announcer: Wait...did you say weeaboo? And that you used to be one?

Summer: laughs Yeah, it was pretty bad. Sometimes I used to randomly throw incorrectly pronounced Japanese words in the middle of English sentences and run around the park with my arms straight behind my back as if I was a ninja for Naruto.

Announcer: laughs Oh dear! For those who don't know, can we pull up an image of that on the screen?

Laughter from everyone

Summer: laughing You see, it looks pretty cool when he does it! So I thought I could look cool too!

Announcer: laughing But I guess that wasn't the case!

Summer: Not in the slightest! Anyway, I started to explain to my friends that I used to draw a lot of Super Mario related things, more so Yoshi and that I used to make Let's Play videos on Youtube. They begged me for my username, but I refused to tell them and only gave them a small hint as to what it was.

Announcer: What was the hint?

Summer: Well, let me back up. I told them my username, but I didn't tell them how to spell it. They tried many combinations, from A-W-E-S-U-M, to A-W-E-S-M and I was confident that they wouldn't find it...

Announcer:...But someone eventually did?

Summer: sighs Somehow, yeah. One of them found my Youtube channel, and although embarrassing, I could handle that but I quickly made everything on there unlisted. However, there was a link to my deviantART account via my Youtube and when I found out that they found that, I panicked. For whatever reason, it was extremely embarrassing and since I didn't want to deactivate my account, I just threw everything into storage, and blanked out everything else.

Announcer: Why where you embarrassed? I mean, you've had this account for going on 6 years, isn't that something to be proud of?

Summer: You see... that's where it starts to get a little complicated. When I first made my account, back when I was... fourteen I believe - I'm nearly nineteen now - It was all about Yoshi this and Yoshi that. Even though I was into other things such as Kingdom Hearts or whatever anime at the time, "Yoshi" was the thing that defined me when I was younger. For instance, I ran into an old classmate whom I haven't seen since middle school the other day and she said "Hey, you were that Yoshi girl from BAS middle school, right?" She didn't remember my name, but she remembered that I drew Yoshi a lot and wore video game merch.

Announcer: So... I'm still not quite understanding, if your peers knew about you drawing Yoshi all of the time, why was it embarrassing for them to find your deviantART account?

Summer: I guess it has something to do with linking your real self to your internet self. It's something that I don't particularly mind now, but when someone finds out about how I was in the past that knows me in real life, it's embarrassing, especially considering that the identity I carried then is not the identity that I carry now. And to be honest, that has been my struggle with my account over the past few years.

Announcer: Struggle? The audience would love for you to explain.

Summer: Like anyone, when you grow up, your ideals and interests are subject to change. By my junior year in high school, "Yoshi" was not the highlight of my life anymore. To be honest, Super Mario from the start wasn't even my favorite video games series or even my second favorite at that.

audible gasping

Summer: Kingdom Hearts was, and still is my favorite video games series, followed closely behind by The Legend of Zelda. Super Mario comes in at spot number three.

Announcer: Wait, so if it wasn't your favorite, then why was it all that we basically ever saw from you?

Summer: Because it was easy to market, I guess. Everyone knows what Super Mario is, some might know about The Legend of Zelda but very few people at that time knew about Kingdom Hearts. Also, it was a hellva lot easier to find Super Mario related clothing, figurines and the like as compared to the other two. Also, with a name like AwsmYoshi, there's not much to expect other than Yoshi related inquires. That's why over these past few years, I been battling with my account. Disappearing and reappearing all of the time. I was trying to live up to the "AwsmYoshi" username, but it never worked out because I wasn't drawing for myself really, I was drawing for those around me and trying to keep them happy and I now realize that I just can't operate like that. It was only ever short term happiness, never long term. Not since 2014, that is.

Announcer: I think we an all relate to how you feel about that, we have to put our interests in front of anything else when it comes to passion.

Summer: You see, I cared about what I presented to everyone, but I wanted to also do what makes me truly happy, so last year, I tried to make a compromise by creating a "side account", JeiJeiSummer. Here, I was going to post everything that wasn't Super Mario related and whenever I wanted to draw Yoshi or Mario or whatever, I'd put it on my AwsmYoshi account. However....This almost immediately did not work out for me.

Announcer: And why's that?

Summer: Well you see, contrary to popular belief, I still enjoy drawing Yoshi and playing Super Mario games occasionally but with two accounts, I was basically telling myself "hey, you can only do this here, and that there", and that just created a lot of restrictions that eventually wore me out. If you couple this with the fact that during this time, I was going through a rough time physically and emotionally about personal issues. I just overall had no desire to continue uploading anything from either of my accounts.

Audience awwing

Announcer: We're deeply sorry to hear that, was it boyfriend related issues?

Summer: What? No...

Announcer: laughs Or perhaps maybe even girlfriend related? You always seemed to have-

Summer: ANYWAY.

Announcer:Laughing I was just joking with you. The tone of our show was starting to get a little solemn, so I had to spice it up a little bit!

Summer: ...

Announcer: clears throat So anyway, what do you plan to do now, Ms. Summer Jei? What does your future hold in regards to deviantART?

Summer: ... Well.. from here on out, I'm hoping to-

ding ding

Announcer: Take a quick commercial break!

Summer: ...

Announcer: Find out what Summer is hoping to do right after these messages and quick words from our sponsors!

(You're a brave soul if you're still reading this lol)

(To be honest, I'm a little upset that I have never thought about using this type of format to express myself before. It's a lot easier for me to get my ideas across like this than compared to other methods.)

(Welp, I've been writing this for a while now. I'm gonna try to wrap up my final thoughts rather quickly so sorry if it seems "rushed")

(But real talk, I kinda hope that ya'll are enjoying reading this just as much as I have been enjoying writing it haha.)

cheering, jive music plays

Announcer: Welcome back to more deviantART LIVE! Before the break, we learned what caused the absence in Summer's presence. Hopefully we will get to learn more as we continue to talk!

Summer: ...

Announcer: So Summer, as we were talking earlier, what do you plan to do now?

Summer: serious I plan to wrap up this abysmal interview as soon as possible so I can proceed to sue this program for emotional distress.

Announcer: visibly nervous Ahaa...Well, that might be a little-

Summer: Just kidding.

audience laughter

Announcer: Oh...Well good! HAHA, you got me there! Ohoh... oh....

Summer: Anyway, to answer your question, I plan to soon be active again on deviantART, but in a way that hasn't been seen from me before.

Announcer: Please explain further!

Summer: Well, after months of struggling and contemplating, I have decided that I will continue on with my "main" account, AwsmYoshi, however, my username must be changed.

audience gasping

Summer: I know, I know. AwsmYoshi is a name that I have had for years, but I just have to let it go. I really do. It just doesn't fit with who I am anymore, and since this account is nearly 6 years old, I don't want to throw those 6 years down the drain. I've worked hard to get to where I am now, even during my toughest hours. To officially close off this account or leave it as a "memorial" of my youth would be detrimental. I'm not trying to hide my past, I'm just trying to move on from it.

Announcer: Wait, so what does that mean for all of your old artwork? You said that it was in storage, do you plan on taking everything out or just keeping it there?

Summer: That was a difficult decision to make as well, but I think I've reached a compromise with myself. I will only leave up my most memorable works available to the public. However, anything that contains past commissions, art trades or gifts of other people's characters will be kept in storage, regardless of how popular it may have been. Remember, they're not being deleted, they're just being put in storage. If anyone would like a personal download of any of those drawings or animations, I'd be happy to give it to them upon request. Speaking of commissions, I understand that there were a few that I didn't....complete the last time I was active. For those people, full refunds will be issued without hesitation. I apologize for the inconveniences I have caused over the past few years.

Announcer: I see, I see. So let's go back to the name change thing. What will your name be changing to?

Summer: laughs slightly That's a surprise that you're just gonna have to stick around to find out. Although I think a select few already know.

audience "oooh"ing

Announcer:laughs Well well, there are mysteries to go around! And speaking of mysteries, if you're changing your name completely, what does that mean for your character, AwsmYoshi?

Summer: Aww man, this was another hard decision for me to make, but ultimately, I've decided to let him go as a character, along with all of my other Yoshi OC's for the time being. I might bring them back, but they were characters that were super cliche, especially AwsmYoshi himself, so if they do come back, they will need some serious revisions.

Announcer: Well, we all hope to see them back soon, if at all possible!

ding ding

Announcer: Well, it appears that we are running low on time! Summer, is there any last things you want to say to the audience here or listening at home?

Summer: laughs Last things? Pfft, no this is not that last anyone will hear of me but if there's something that I wanted to say, it's this:

I know I haven't exactly been the easiest person to have a conversation with or even understand, and I know that I've disappointed, or even infuriated a lot of you on multiple occasions, and for that, I just wanted to give a large apology to everyone. For a brief moment in my life, I forgotten the learned skill of how to communicate with others, and I've done poorly to redeem myself since then. But, I've learned a lot over these past three years, and if it's one thing, the only way you can move forward is to first, not reject your past mistakes, but accept them and use these painful trials to help aid in having a more successful future. I know things will be different for the both us, but I do want to try and rekindle the relationships and trust that I have long since broken. So from the bottom of my heart, I sincerely apologize and I hope that you guys are willing to take a chance to stand with me again during the "new age" of this account. I understand that what I might start doing from now on may not interest those around me, and that's okay. I just hope everyone understands that in order for me to be happy, I need to put myself first, and that's something I've never really done before.

Announcer: And there you have it, ladies and gentlemen, straight from the Awsm lady herself. laughs Is it okay to still use that term?

Summer:laughs Yeah, of course. It's not offensive to me or anything of the like. Actually, it makes me smile because it's like having a rad nostalgia flashback.

Announcer: laughing Well, we'll be sure to keep it going! Alrighty folks, that's all the time we have for today. Please, let's all come together and thank Summer for coming out and being with us today!

audience roaring and cheering

Summer: It was a pleasure being here, thanks for having me!

Announcer: Until next time, this has been deviantART LIVE, from the Creative Imaginative Studios! Thank you all for watching and have a great day! If you have any other questions or comments, feel free to post them in our CIS chat box!

Yes, I am alive. No, all of my things are not deleted - just in storage. No, I have not "left", or am I planning to leave this website. It's just... a lot of things have been on my mind as of late and a lot of things have been happening to me.  Not necessary bad things, but just a lot of time consuming things and things that make me question my sanity. Heck - I graduate High school in 3 weeks, and anyone who has graduated or is about to graduate can understand how busy and partly stressful that can get. Pile that on top of a job, schoolwork, social life and other things and it just gets to be overwhelming. I know this makes me sound like every teenager ever who experiences rough patches here and there, but this is not the case. This didn't happen over night, or over the last few months - This has been building up for the last three years and it's time that I stop ignoring it.

I plan on explaining myself in full detail sometime in the approaching summertime. I promise all of your questions and concerns will be answered soon, I just need more time. Now, in the past I know I have said "this" and "that" and then came back for maybe a month or two and then disappeared off the face of this planet earth, but this time, that won't be the case - and I'm serious. I know I've disappointed many of you by doing that, and I just cannot allow myself to do that again.

I'll be online until the evening hours if you want to chat, as me a question(s) or just whatever. I might seem a little vague with my responses, but that's because I don't want to have to re-explain myself over and over again to different people. I'm saving the "big spill" for later.

Also, if I've sent you a note within the past year randomly rambling over some topics that are to say in the least formal way, questionable , please, please ignore them. Like, seriously. They were hideous, and I wasn't in the right mind-set when I sent them so just, delete them if you have not already. Just thinking about them makes me cringe.

Heyo guys, I hope you haven't forgotten about me! D: So sorry that I've been gone for so long and how I just disappeared without warning. About two weeks ago, my computer's hardrive finally shutdown and I also couldn't get online with any of my other devices because I had gotten them taken up for who knows how long because I forgot to lock the house doors -__-' yah...so my fault.

Anyway, this literally could not have happened at a more worse time. I was planning to have my commissions done by the end of July, but THIS happened :P So, I've lost all my computer memory, WiPs programs (including GiMP, Paint.NET, and FL Studio, a music program that I JUST payed good money for!) So in short terms, I cannot continue with any of my commissions and for that, I'm terribly sorry, but I have to hold them off for now.

As for my groups' current contest/ my group itself, I have no idea what I am going to do. I can't get online enough to update with new entrees or do the monthly "Yoshi's Page". Also, I was supposed to be using this time to take/finish a couple of commissions so I could use those points for the contest awards, but now I have no way of doing that. I think what I'm gonna have to do is just postpone the contest or extend the deadline, I really haven't decided yet. I'm probably not going to get another computer until my birthday, which isn't until September 16th.

So yeah, that's what's been going on. I might be able to post a traditional post every now and then, but I can't guarantee anything as of right now. So for the inconvenience guys.

-AwsmYoshi

Gosh dangit, I'm really starting to get mad at this site. First we have all this spam crap, and it's only getting worse and now we have a stupid comment update? UGH. This is just so annoying.

SPAM BOTS:

At first, it all started with one account. That account started linking spam and viruses to other deviants and if they went to that website, their account was hijacked by the spammer and they would no longer have control over it. That's why at first, the spammers accounts had been here for a while, like other deviants. NOWADAYS, the spammers are creating new account by the 100s a day to cause even more havoc. They sit and await on the homepage for new deviations, (which happens like every second, no joke) and when they see them, the head of the spam bots sends out his "troops" to spam all over that persons new deviation. It is so freakin' demeaning, I can see this happening to a young, self-concious deviant-

"Okay, I've just uploaded a new picture. I hope people like and comment on it...."

*10 seconds later*

"Wow, 8 comments already?! I'm gonna go check it out!"

* :(

Now I have seen a FEW of the spam bots account deactivated, but that's not good enough deviantART, NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

As if things could get even worse, THEY HAVE.

[LINK]:

awsmyoshi.deviantart.com/ <-- What is THAT?

www.google.com/search?q=yoshi&… <--- UGLY, it's just plain UGLY.

What happened to the infamous [link]? It was one of the many great things that I HAD liked about deviantART. Now, they've changed it so that you are forced to see most of the link, which in my opinion is just a terrible idea. If you're going to another site, it still pops up with the "Fella Beware" warning, so why have the full link displayed twice?? I mean, if you weren't sure where the [link] would go, you could just hover over it or go to the "Fella Beware" to check the URL. This is a really bad update. I mean, picture someone posting their commission info with links; it immediatley becomes unreadable, messy and distracting. :P

NEW COMMENT FEATURE:

Okay, so I use sta.sh every once in a while to hold minor stuff that doesn't need to be posted, but seriously?? deviantART has just added the feature to POST THUMBNAILS and use sta.sh writer to your comments!! NO. That is a HORRENDOUS idea. I mean really, they are just throwing candy out to spam bots. I mean look at one of their examples of this new "feature". LOOK AT THIS AND TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG.

Hmmm... I don't know about you, but that looks like unwanted SPAM to me :P I would like it if someone went to my page and was all like "Wow, that cool but you remind me of this person :thumb::thumb::thumb: seeeeeee?!?!"

Also alongside with putting thumbs into your comment now, does that mean the end of "plz" accounts? If you can add custom made emoticons, then people won't use have a need for anymore plz's.....

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..... :icononionsighplz: It seems as if the deviantART staff doesn't care anymore. They don't reply back to messages that you send to them reguarding art theft (that's why I watermark my stuff like crazy nowadays -__-)  or anything of that nature anymore :P So, there's a spam bot problem? Alright, we'll do nothing about it or even better yet, let's HELP the problem get WORSE.

It's sad to say, but deviantART is becoming more and more like Facebook....
